To begin with, I will assess your horses conformation. This is important because conformation affects how a saddle fits.
Next I will feel you horses back, this is to check for any heat, swelling or soreness.
One of the most important steps is to take a template of your horses back, this will allow me determine your horses width and check for any asymmetry.
I will need to see your horse walk and trot up to assess its movement and soundness.
It is important to check your existing saddle for safety. My main priority is to check that the tree is sound and the stitching/leatherwork is safe.
Once I have checked your saddle over, I will then assess the fit of the saddle on the horse. Or if you are buying a new saddle, we will determine which saddles are most suitable.
The final stage is the ridden assessment, here I will determine which saddle fits the best, or if your current saddle needs re-balancing. Your feedback is important to me and I will endeavour to fit the best saddle for yourself and your horse.
